The water in Spring

Why Spring tile scales up

Most of Spring is served by MUDs inside the North Harris County Regional Water Authority. The authority has been moving its districts from groundwater to surface water in stages, and some Spring-area connections are still being built. Until a district converts, it's pumping from the same Gulf Coast Aquifer wells that have supplied the area for decades.

Hard well water plus long, hot summers means a lot of evaporation and a lot of top-offs. Each top-off adds minerals, and they collect right where the water meets the tile.

What we see locally

Pools around Spring

Spring's established neighborhoods, like Champion Forest and parts of Klein, have plenty of pools that are twenty or more years old. Many have original ceramic or porcelain tile with years of layered scale. Silica bead handles that well. We test a spot first, because older grout can be fragile.

Old pools with tall trees overhead also collect a lot of leaves. The pool has to be clean and clear before we start, so if yours has been closed up, get it cleaned and balanced first.

How it works

Cleaning day

On cleaning day the team lowers the water 6 to 12 inches below the tile line (the pool is never drained), removes the calcium with bead or media blasting matched to your tile, and vacuums the media out with our own pumps. Most pools take 2 to 4 hours. Quotes come from your photos and a phone call, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

Neighborhoods we serve include Klein, Champion Forest, Gleannloch Farms, Spring Creek Oaks, Old Town Spring and Northgate Forest.

Questions

Good to know

My pool in Klein is over 20 years old. Is tile cleaning safe for it?

Usually, yes. We start with a test spot and adjust the media and pressure to the tile. Grout or tile that is already loose, cracked or hollow can come loose, and we'll point out any weak spots we see in your photos.

Do I need to clean my pool before you come?

Yes. It must be clean, clear and free of algae and debris. Leaves and branches clog our pumps, and algae is a health hazard for our technicians.

Do you also work in Old Town Spring and the Grand Parkway area?

Yes. We serve all of Spring, plus Houston and the other surrounding cities.
