The water in Richmond

Why Richmond tile scales up

The City of Richmond's water report lists its supply as Gulf Coast Aquifer wells drilled roughly 480 to 1,000 feet deep. Many surrounding subdivisions are on MUD wells drawing from the same aquifer system.

Well water and long summers mean steady calcium buildup. In Richmond we often see two layers: a soft, white band at the current waterline and a harder, grayer line where the water used to sit.

What we see locally

Pools around Richmond

Established areas like Pecan Grove have plenty of pools that have been around for years, with original tile and older grout. We always start with a test spot and adjust the media and pressure to the tile's condition.

Newer communities like Harvest Green, Veranda and Long Meadow Farms tend to have newer pools with lighter buildup and features like raised spas and tile bands.

How it works

Cleaning day

On cleaning day the team lowers the water 6 to 12 inches below the tile line (the pool is never drained), removes the calcium with bead or media blasting matched to your tile, and vacuums the media out with our own pumps. Most pools take 2 to 4 hours. Quotes come from your photos and a phone call, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

Neighborhoods we serve include Pecan Grove, Harvest Green, Long Meadow Farms, Veranda, Lakes of Williams Ranch and Historic Richmond.

Questions

Good to know

Why does my pool have two calcium lines?

The lower one is usually the current waterline. A higher or lower second line often marks where the water sat for a long time, for example during a drought or after a leak. We clean the full band shown in your photos.

Can older grout in a Pecan Grove pool handle blasting?

Properly installed grout is fine. Grout that's already loose, cracked or hollow can come loose, and we don't repair tile, but we can refer you to someone who does.
